On September 20th, we participated in the much-awaited South Asian Health: From Research to Practice and Policy Community Roundtable.
Organized by the South Asian Health Initiative and the South Asian Council for Social Services, this forum brought together multi-disciplinary researchers, community members, policy makers and practitioners, to address health disparities in South Asian communities in the United States.
Among the many health issues addressed were cancer, cardiovascular health, heath care access, mental heath, stress and more.
Designed to identify gaps in research and advocacy priorities, this forum offered us at Sakhi the opportunity to highlight the importance of community health issues that tend not to be prioritized, like reproductive health, mental health, and alternative healing modules.
