I want her to know that I am proud of her actions - nothing she did warrants silence and secrecy.

Why "What's on Your List?"

Sakhi has a long history of using video (and other media tools) in its community engagement work. Over the years, Sakhi has created four videos which focus on various aspects of domestic violence in the South Asian community. To see these videos and/or purchase them, click here. (This link will open to a new page.) For its 15th anniversary in 2004, Sakhi executed a campaign called "What creates change?" which asked community members to respond about how we can end violence together.

In 2005, we decided to go one step further. We have now created a space for people to share their ideas on how they can end violence. In our work, we have often seen how individual community members - friends, sisters, brothers, uncles, fathers, mothers, cousins, co-workers, etc. - have been instrumental in supporting survivors of violence to emerge from abusive situations. We've also seen that there are many different ways individuals approach the issue of abuse when it comes to people they know.

So, we have created a Public Service Announcement that not only shows what people do, but also asks you how you would intervene in a domestic violence situation.

"What's on Your List?" is accompanied by an online Bulletin Board where we invite you to share your thoughts on the PSA and tell us

What is on your list?

Sakhi's first-ever PSA "What's on Your List?" was created with the incredible support of community members and trained volunteers who willingly gave their time, talent, and energies. We thank you all!

We especially thank David Lichtenberger for the use of his song "Magik by Accident", created by him and Thomas Herlth. You can hear more of their music at www.tokyotrauma.com
